Legendary Editor, Composer, Guitarist, Singer, Songwriter...
My first editing gig was a summer camp hype film. I practiced shooting wedding films, music videos and corporate sales films. As a bilingual Los Angeles native, I'm rooted in my Mexican heritage, and the culture fuels my creativity. A Spanish language quiz show for high school students was the first thing I cut that went to "air". My mother was a TV Host, producer/writer for Canal 22. That opened access for me to learn what editing was, in the time of $100,000 Avid Media Composer. Not just anyone could get one. It was a space ship, I learned how to fly!
This led to an unpaid internship at Red Car where I would ascend the ranks of PA, Vault, Machine Room, and finally Assistant Editor. I began "ghost cutting" for my editor to learn the craft for clients like Mattel, NASCAR and FX Networks.
In 2004 I was fortunate to join a new outfit called Union Editorial, where I underwent years of mentorship from some of the most seasoned, award-winning storytellers, refined my skills and learned the art of the :30 second film. I am still represented by Union for editorial work. I became an Editor.
ABC and NBC Sports came calling, sending me to edit on-site in broadcast trucks for Women's World Cup Soccer, the Rose Bowl, PGA Tour, and the Super Bowl. Since 2011, I've worked with countless agencies and brands including editing the brand launch campaign for Rivian, and acting as Supervising Editor for a four-part episodic series on Peacock. The larger list of collaborators includes Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Range Rover, Jeep, Apple, Amazon, Meta, Walmart, Samsung, Hulu, HBO and a bunch more.
I understand large brands' needs, I love being a partner to directors and enjoy stretching out into new formats. My path as an editor has led me to professional voice-over work, motion graphics, social media, case studies, behind-the-scenes, documentary films, trailers, music videos, AI-assisted workflows and original music composition.
My love for music is integrated in the rhythms of how an edit comes together, and is essential to a compelling story. I learned along the way, "Let's make it sound good, then we can make it look good."
